The client was a single male professional living in an urban high-rise condo. His walk in closet wish list included having a clean line look with seamless corner solution, a place to hide the existing closet safe, plenty of drawer space, a place for mirror(s), integrated hampers, shoe storage, and the ability to see various articles of clothing for staging outfits. Furthermore, with an eye towards possible resale value, he wanted the closet design to be easily adaptable to accommodate two users in the future.
Closet Works designed a floor based system made to encompass clothing BUT give the illusion of openness. Critical to the design was the corner treatment. The corners functionally blend with the rest of the closet system, satisfying the client's desire for seamless, clean lines all the way around the closet. A unique feature was the solution for the safe — we created a hidden chamber to enclose the client's safe. The secret chamber consists of a bank of drawers with shelves above inside a concealed cabinet. This cabinet is hidden because the door is covered with a full-length mirror which faces the doorway to the closet. The mirror appears to be mounted to the closet system panel and conceals the fact that there is a cabinet behind it, while remaining easy to open and close as a door. There is no doorknob or handle on the mirror, but none is required to open it. For added security, a StealthLock® was used on this mirrored cabinet.
