Five Piece Laminate Closet Doors & Drawers
Sample Traditional Style Closet Doors and Drawers in Portabella
Portabella is a five piece glazed laminate, recessed panel door in the traditional style. There is an outside bevel edge and an inside bevel abutting the recessed panel. All Closet Works five piece doors are constructed in a similar fashion to a solid wood door in that each has five pieces that are fused together, giving it an authentic look without the premium price tag of a real wood product. Through mortise and tenon construction, the stiles and rails are glued and clamped around a center of 1/4″ thick, two-sided MDF. Portabella features a glazed finish that gives it a traditional or "antique" look. Due to its traditional, glazed finish, Portabella blends especially well with a French country/provencial look, but is versatile enough to be used with many decorating schemes. Portabella is a standard Closet Works door profile using thermofoil technology and is considered eco-friendly. Five piece laminate doors, drawer fronts, mouldings and accessories are machined out of a 5′ x 8′ sheet of 100% recycled, CARB II compliant medium-density fiber board (MDF). Water-based glue is applied and one of our many laminate colors are membrane-pressed onto the component parts. It is available in the ivory color only. Use the Portabella doors and drawer fronts with our standard ivory laminate panels and shelves. Portabella doors and drawers are also available open frame — meaning they can accept inserts such as glass or mesh panels.
Minimum Portabella closet door/drawer size: 12" W x 15" H
Maximum Portabella closet door/drawer size: 30" W x 96" H
Recommended Maximum Portabella closet door/drawer size: 18" W x 48" H
(Drawers width standard sizes are 18, 24 and 30 inches. Any other sizes are custom and will include a custom drawer fee).
NOTE: All Closet Works doors and drawer fronts are 3/4" solid core material and have excellent durability. MDF is often more stable than solid wood and stands up better to changes in heat and humidity. Solid wood doors typically expand and contract both horizontally and vertically when temperatures and humidity rise or fall. Because of this, cabinets, doors and paneling made from solid wood require a higher level of care and maintenance. Doors made from MDF are a great low maintenence, lower cost alternative to wood — and they do not expand or contract. However, if you like the profile of our Portabella door but prefer solid wood, see our Lowland, Crownpoint or Unity door/drawer front styles.
