A few things about Tim:

After receiving a BFA in Interior Architecture, my career skyrocketed while working for a well known residential and commercial architectural firm in both their Chicago and Manhattan Studio locations. There I honed my skills, excelling specifically in the design of built-in custom cabinetry, and addressing the particulars of traditional, transitional, and the modern aesthetics. The firm decided to grow the New York Studio solely, but my love for Chicago kept me from moving with them. I bring with me years of experience in space planning and an attention to the details. I do believe that form follows function, and, like people, no two designs are the same. I love what I do, and I enjoy the challenge of working outside of the box, while working along with my clients to come up with designs that reflect their own uniqueness and personal needs. Closet Works’ philosophy, business practices, quality of material, and craftsmanship in the final product has made my career here one of the best experiences I have ever had, and I look forward to sharing that experience with each one of my clients.

This remarkable wall unit includes features such as cherry stained solid wood bi-fold pocket doors. When closed these doors hide a flat screen TV on an articulating arm that pulls forward and pivots so the clients can watch TV from the kitchen while preparing their gourmet meals. Installed below the pocket doors is the client's glass front remote controlled electric fireplace. LED puck lights recessed in the upper shelves shine down through glass shelves and illuminate a collection of sculpture and art objects the clients have collected during their travels.  Above the side cabinet and drawer sections are large open areas for oil on canvas paintings also to be illuminated by the LED puck lights. The solid wood fronts of the custom sized drawers and the doors of the lower cabinets are stained cherry to match the mission style pocket doors. Both the lower cabinet and the drawer sections  are topped with an Ivory Silestone countertop with a knife edge profile. The backing of each section is paintable MDF which the client had wall papered  a different color/patterned wall paper in each section. This wall unit was inspired by The Miller House and Garden in Columbus Indiana which the clients toured during one of their recent vacations.

Home office space for three people that continued off of a highly prominent built-in hutch-style bookcase in the family room.

The challenge here was the large amount of continuous yet segmented space, where only a portion of system (the bookcase hutch) was located in what is designated as the family room. Working with the client to produce the appropriate style to repeat the details in the existing architecture and furniture, I additionally addressed the equally, if not more important work space by installing under-cabinet lighting, which not only functioned as task lighting for the desks, but also highlighted the space’s coordinating fabric on the tack board.
